Oringinal Kings of Comedy Continued
That one was getting long so I started a new post. So back to number two. One thing black comedieans do often is compare black and white customs to one another and because you recognize the truth of it it is funny. But part of me wondered with some of what they were saying if it wasn't also detrimental. And I mean it in this way, I think you are a good comedian when you can talk about more than just the differences in your act, but that it not really my point. My point is for example they talk about is how black people are always late and take breaks for two hours instead of 15 and how other people groups don't. It is funny don't get me wrong, and true for some, maybe. I was just thinking we laugh about, we make it a joke and really it's sad, really not what you want to be known for. I know it's comedy and I'm taking it all and making it serious. I'm not trying to take away from it, but I was just wondering as I watched it if maybe we were known for something else or were laughing at something better about ourselves we would be inspired to be better. I know I made a huge mess of all of that, so forgive me, but it you can get my general idea I was just wondering if maybe some of it isn't more sad than funny. Because it's funny on stage but it's not when you go home and live it. That's all. :)
